Effective leadership is increasingly recognized as essential for achieving the three major shifts outlined in the NHS 10-year plan.

In response, several NHSE/DHSC initiatives are underway to support current and future leaders at all levels across the NHS. They include imminent publication of  a new Management and Leadership Framework and code of standards and competencies, plus future plans for a College of Executive and Clinical Leadership.

While leadership is often associated with senior executives, there is an increasing expectation that individuals across all levels of the workforce should demonstrate leadership qualities—but not everyone can do so effectively.

Many individuals find themselves taking on leadership roles out of necessity, such as due to staff turnover or accumulated experience, and may feel unprepared or overwhelmed. This can lead to less confident or overly authoritarian leadership styles, focused on operational task completion and lacking compassion, even from experienced managers.

To complement the broader national efforts and in light of an increasing demand for early leadership development opportunities, we are delighted to be partnering with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health to launch a new initiative — Being Leader.

This free, three-part webinar series explores:

·       Leading with Presence

·       Qualities of Leadership Practice

·       Leading Across Boundaries

With contributions from the RCPCH, invited NHS organisational development guests and Talent for Care leadership program facilitators, the series aims to foster authentic leadership through discussion and practical insights, and is open to both paediatric and non-paediatric professionals.

To join the first webinar; Being Leader – Leading with Presence in Times of Change on 28 Nov 2025 (12:30–13:30 GMT) please register via RCPCH: https://lnkd.in/eNpGTxAR.

Two further webinar dates will be announced for February and April next year, with the joint initiative continuing during the RCPCH conference, May 2026.
